Describe yourself in 3 words: Creative, Kooky and Compassionate!
What is your life motto? It’s better to regret having done something than regret not having done it at all.
When did you start pursuing your career and how long did it take to become successful? Hmmm, difficult to answer, as I have never intentionally pursued my career of modelling, acting or TV presenting or cooking, however my love for art and design has always been with me. I studied art at university, (did a double major in sculpture and jewellery design and minored in painting and art psychology at COFA) and it has only been in the last few years that I have been fortunate enough to be doing what I truly, really love: drawing (lingerie and jewellery design) and getting paid for it!
How many hours did you dedicate to pursuing your dream?
Ha a gazillion! Still dedicating them (it’s Friday night and I’m answering these Q+A’s!!!)
Describe how difficult the business really is? I currently dedicate my time to three full time businesses: Love Lunch (my organic meat free catering company), Annalise for Bras n Things, (my eco friendly lingerie range specialising in the fuller cup sizes), as well as my soon to be launched signature jewellery range, in addition to all my modelling, TV presenting and acting!
As for how difficult it has been? Its certainly hard work at times (very hard, I wont lie, early starts, OS travel sans loved ones etc), but it’s fulfilling and rewarding at the same time and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
What is the mistake that taught you an extremely valuable lesson?
Ohh, I’ve had a few…and they know their names! Ha…All jokes aside, the biggest lesson I’ve learnt is that I’ve been too trusting in the past, and it’s great to be trusting in many ways, (I love an open heart) but also be aware. Please.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given to date? My nanna used to instill in me that education was imperative, as well as communication, honesty and to always save at least 10% of your earnings!
What is the piece of advice that you weren’t?
Dreams can come true.
In your mind, is formal training essential? It’s not essential, but I hold it in high regard, my university years have taught me so much on so many levels – dedication and focus and especially the ability to believe in yourself.
What are some steps emerging talent can take to start/further their career? Be true, be kind, be honest; have compassion, drive and determination. Eat and live well…have a giggle!!
What kept you going when you felt like giving up? My loved ones believing in me.
Do you believe that ‘making it’ is about luck and being in the right place at the right time? I believe that its ultimately up to the universe, but give it a good nudge nonetheless…
